YOUR WORK IS DONE…GO WELL, AGNES

~ Being a tribute to Mrs. Fobellah née Agnes Aroke ~

The Lebialem Community in the United States was joined by many mourners and sympathizers over the weekend to mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Mrs. Fobellah née Agnes Aroke. The celebration was held at the Aser Center in Baltimore and was attended by friends, family, and sympathizers from several parts of the United States.

During the memorial and celebration, participants listened to a homily at a funeral mass celebrated by Rev. Father Anthony AniChukwu. In the homily; the Reverend Father reminded the audience that death is a transition from the physical self into the spiritual self that never dies. He urged those present (and especially the family) to have faith because Mrs. Fobellah’s transition is proof that she had accomplished her mission here on earth and now rests with the Lord. He noted that while birth is the Alpha, death is the Omega…the beginning and the end… which is Everlasting.

The celebration of life began with Nweh traditional mourning punctuated with dirges, ululations and remembrances in songs and speeches. A video presentation of the deceased also brought to light the lady that Agnes was; highlighting her biography and some of her activities when she was alive. In a moving account, Mrs. Mbeseha Margaret recalled when she and the deceased attended Seat of Wisdom College Fontem and how she later introduced her brother, Colonel Edward Yochembeng Fobellah to Agnes. She also spoke glowingly of the memory of a hardworking wife and mother, a tireless family and community friend, and an exemplary individual that never distinguished between who she served. She regretted that death had so prematurely deprived the Bellah and Menky families, and friends and the wider community of a great role model in marriage, community involvement, and work environments. Other speakers recalled their interactions with the deceased and regretted her early demise. Mama Meleuh spoke on behalf of the Bellah family, Mrs. Christy Aluna, in tears, supported by Mrs. Alice Asonganyi thanked the audience on behalf of the Menky family, Mr. Asonglefac Nkemleke spoke on behalf of LECUMDEM and, Mr. Timothy Mbeseha spoke on behalf of BNDA-USA Mr. Joseph Njinya, son-in-law of late Aggie Fobellah, thanked everyone for the tremendous support received since Aggie was taken ill until now.

The mourning and celebration continue in Cameroon next weekend, where Mrs. Fobellah Agnes Aroke will be laid to rest after church services at the Beleuh Catholic Mission.

The Lewoh Community in the United States joins the Lebang Community in expressing heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to the Bellah-Ngeh and Menky royal families for this loss. We thank all those who made the wake a success.
