One Moment

August 8, 2013

It's funny how a photographer can snap a photo in one moment and that single second in time holds so much of a story in front of and behind it. This was Abby fixing my veil, my Mom could not get it to stay securely in place. In actuality it was more than securing the veil it was adhering it to the tiara which though delicate in appearance was actually very heavy to wear. Abby who happened to be in my Mom's room when everyone was running around stressed out (late) and scatter brained said something along the lines of "Kathitha, would you like me to give it a try?" She then proceeded to tell me that my facial expressions were so dramatic I should have been an actress lol. Truth be told it really hurt. Those little combs digging in my head.... Still we smile past the pain for the sake of the moment. I'm so grateful to Abby for stepping in, in her gentle and easy way and making it alright while little Abby Marie looked on adoringly at her Mom. Maybe in the next life Abby...

When i met abby

April 11, 2013
Meeting her for the first time was like knowing her forever. She was sooo kind to me and my family and made everyone feel like they were part of her family. I only had the chance to speak to her a few times, but each and every time was a blessing to me. God needed an angel in heaven and he chose her. We will never know why he took her so early. She was always in a great mood even when you might have been fealing down. She would allways look you in the eye and give you the best and honest advice she could offer . I remember her meeting my family and talking with them making them feel relaxed and comfortable. She was allways out going and always had a smile on her face. Abby you will allways be missed And we will love you forever .......

A ship sails and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon
and someone at my side says
She is gone.

Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all.
She is just as large now as when I last saw her.
Her diminished size and total loss from my sight is in me, not in her.
And just at that moment, when someone at my side says she is gone,
there are others who are watching her coming over their horizon
and other voices take up a glad shout -
There she comes!

That is what passing is.
A horizon and just the limit of our sight.
Lift us up O Lord, that we may see further.

Dedicated to my sweet cousin Abby

1 Corinthians 13

New International Version (NIV)

1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b]but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Abby. I really have some great memories of hanging out with Abby, Yoli and Modi on Holly Dr in Roselle. I remember those touch football games, swimming in their pool and just hanging out with them and their cousins. Those were fun days!  The picture of the "CREW" was especially nice to see. Modi, if you read this, I know that's you in the background, I recognize that great smile.  My heart goes out to you guys.  Abby was a special person.

Simple joy.s between friends

April 19, 2012

Abby and I played softball on Locust field when we were twelve and hav e been friends since. She was a good athlete as well as a natural beauty. Lil Jay came when Ab was young, she was a wonderful mom, although on occasion grandma watched lil Jay and Ab and I blew off some steam dancing at the clubs on Rt.35. We'd dance and laugh and end up sleeping on one bed with Modi, lil Jay, Ab and myself. We were always there for each other, to listen, to cry, to laugh, to hug, to break things down, to just be. I call Ab, feeling sad, she'd make me tea, tuk me in the sofa, and say, Honey, you feel better? She had the biggest heart and the longest hugs. My children came and Abby is my daughter, Stephanie's godmother. Abby attended many of Stephanie's birthdays and basketball games, as Stephanie and I attended many of lil Abby's recitals and birthdays. I bought lil Abby a dollhouse when she was two, Abby would tell me she still plays with it. When lil Abby was born, Abby said, she was a miracle and she was. Lil Abby is so smart, so caring, so talented just like her mom. Abby did a great job as mom to both her children. Lil Jay and Lil Abby, I pray for both of you to take care of each other and cherish the memories of your mom who loved you both so very much. I know this cause she told me so often. Abby loved everyone and everyone who met her once loved her on the spot. She praised, she listened, she comforted, she laughed, she danced, she dressed you and me up and she was my true best friend forever. I will never forget you Abby, you are my heart. You is smart, You is kind, You is important! to me forever. I love you Abby, Deb
