Memory Lane

April 19, 2016

Oh how i remember my first proper experience of shop bought amala.
We would go to Johnson bus stop and buy 'amala funfun' with plenty of meat and go back to yours to devour it. Yummy! Imagine, i went back to Nigeria in 2012 and went looking for the Amala joint but it was no longer there or perhaps my memory failed me...

I remember me teaching you maths when we were both preparing for JAMB!

Oh how i remember both of us on a day trip to 'Republic of Benin' to shop! How brave we were!

So many fights and you being you did the most amazing thing when you followed the most bizarre description imaginable to find and restore the dignity and esteem of a young lady! Very selfless.

There was one day i went to yours and YES i used to cross that busy motorway! Crazy isnt it! On one such day, my dad drove past and saw his daughter that does not go out crossing the busy motorway.

What about that day at yours when you had a party, i think your 21st and it co-incided with the time of Fela's passing. How dramatic you boys were. I can never forget witnessing such expression of love for Baba 70 by you and all your mates back then. I am struggling to remember names but cant forget the memories!

I remember my first ever visit to a place called 'Iga Iduganran' in Isale eko in search of some flimsy medical equipment - 7inch inter-tracheal tube! that was required for my older sister's brain surgery in 1996! I remember mum bidding us goodbye and good luck for our quest'.

Dele you were ever so caring, I remember in 2003 when you called on favours from friends when i was looking for a Naija shop where i could buy cerelac for my daughter. I remember you in 2012 speaking about your relocation plan and how you needed to think about things you had to do to make sure mum is fine and comfortable..

Oh i remember how happy and proud you were when you came round to visit mine in London to share pictures of Tyler with me and my mum. You were so happy about his birth....

So many memories and its amazing that i am just smiling as i am recalling these memories as i write. I hope reading this brings a smile to someones face as you were all about making people happy.
