Adeline grew up as the youngest of five children, sharing a home with her parents and her four older brothers, Victor, Henry, George and Paul.  She recalled spending time as a young girl helping her mother and learning the things that she was so well known for--cooking, baking and gardening.

As a young woman she worked as a clerk in the Boston Post Office.  During World War II, she was employed as a shell inspector at a plant in Christy Park near McKeesport.

Following her marriage to Alex Hamilton in 1947 and the birth of her first two children, Alex "Sandy" in 1948 and Karen in 1950, the family lived for several years in Pensacola, FL.  During that time, Adeline completed training to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Her third child, Adrienne, was born there.

The family returned to Buena Vista where Adeline spent her time caring for her family and friends as a homemaker.  She also worked for a number of years in the Buena Vista Post Office.

Aside from her children and grandchildren, her greatest pride and joy were her gardens.  She was a willing teacher to any new gardener.

Adeline found great delight in church and Bible study, and her wish was for all she knew to share her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is her faith in Christ that comforts us because we know that she is in heaven now and forever.
