Obituary

Ahija Bennie-Lee Johnson was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 1, 1975 to parents Gloria Johnson and Archbishop Herman Stacy.  Ahija was educated in Detroit Public Schools where he received his high school diploma. Once graduating from Henry Ford High School,  he attended classes at Henry Ford Community College studying Liberal Arts.

He obtained his journeymans license and later transitioned into a skilled trade as a certified Master Welder.  


For greater than 10 years he worked with the UAW local 25 in Novi,  Michigan and worked on various projects throughout the City of Detroit such as the I-96 overpass, Cass Technical and King High Schools and the Motor City parking garage just to name a few.  He was certified in CPR and First Aid by the American Red Cross.  

Ahija was a proud father of three beautiful children Ahtionti, Aidyn and Ayla.  

He loved to spend time at family gatherings, out with friends as well as at Greektown Casino where he was affectionately was known as "AJ".  

Ahija was extremely charismatic, optimistic and he loved to talk and laugh.  He will most be remembered as the guy that could light up any room with his quick wit, his sense of style and most of all his big heart.  

Ahija made his transition on February 8, 2015.

Along with his children and grandson, O'Marea - he leaves behind his Grandmother Mildred Johnson. Grandfather: Joseph Johnson (Ida). His Stepdad; Duck, His siblings; Akisa, Viola, Andrea, Krystal and Herman Jr. Aunts; Andoria (Sam), Pauline and Cassandra.  Uncles; Lynell, John (Colet) and Joe Jr.  A loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

This has been a devastating loss to the entire Johnson family.  We graciously accept your loving thoughts and prayers as we mourn our departed loved one.
