Alan Papierowicz

Alan Papierowicz, USN (Ret.) 59, a resident of Gouldsboro for the past 12 years and of Rhode Island, died Sunday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of the late John Jr., and Glenna Butala Papierowicz. He was a retired US Navy submariner and Veteran serving as a Petty Officer First Class from Vietnam to Desert Storm. He was very active in his community including the Gouldsboro Fire Department and the EMS and Ambulance Squad. He was a life member of Dunns Corners Fire Department, Westerly, RI. 

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved fishing. He was an award winning photographer and published poet. He had a great sense of humor and a great willingness to help anyone who was in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are: a daughter, Misty Benes, Nebraska
Two sons, Jeremiah Farren, and wife, Leah, Windsor Locks, CT
Phillip Papierowicz, and wife, Mindy, Gouldsboro
Four grandchildren, Lucas, Mason, Trevor, and Owen
A sister, Lois Hatolski, Middlesex County, NJ
A brother, John Papierowicz, III, Monmouth Junction, NJ
Four nieces, Erin, Miranda, Candice, and Lee

A Blessing Service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Home, Route 690 and First Street, Spring Brook Township. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 - 8 PM in the funeral home.
