Like a Parent to My Son
For a summer of his life that he will surely never forget, Paul and "Detta" kept my son on their farm and opened his eyes and senses to the intricacies of a life that he would never otherwise have known. They treated him as loving parents, and neither he nor I will ever forgot it. The work and life lessons that he learned there are now a permanent part of his life, as is both of our thanks.

A Flower of a Person
I am unable to remember seeing or interacting with Alfredetta at any time over the years when she was not blossoming with cheer and an infectious happiness. Her smile and exuberance lifted everyone around her. Whatever your mood, you knew it was going to be lightened and made joyful once you came in contact with her. Her spirit reminds me of a flower in blossom; springing with hope and optimism. None of us are always happy, but it certainly appeared to be the case with her, especially with those of us who saw her infrequently. If you were aware or expected to see her, you looked forward to it, as you knew that you were going to end up smiling and laughing. I am equally reminded of her strength and courage as a person. She did not shy away from challenges, and the instances in her life are many when she took on challenges that others may have shied away from. A truly great and inspiring spirit. I regard it a blessing to have known her, and saying she will be missed by many is a huge understatement. RIP, Dear Friend.
