Her Life

DEATH

August 23, 2016

On Monday 15th August 2016, she complained of a bout of cold and was given medication where she felt better. However, on Friday the 19th August, 2016 at 11.00 a.m, her condition worsened and she was rushed to Mediheal Hospital where she was diagnosed with pneumonia and diffuse celebral atropihy.

Unfortunately, she lost the battle and was pronounced dead at 9.00 p.m. We celebrate her life and pray that the lord rest her soul in eternal peace.

HEALTH AND SICKNESS

The late Alice Ngerechi enjoyed great health until the year 2009 when she started complaining of frequent stomach upsets. She was taken to hospital where doctors diagnosed her with ulcers and later, Arthritis. Since then she had been managing her health well and would regularly attend medical checkups.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

August 23, 2016

In environmental conservation, she devoted half of her land to natural forest that accommodated a host of indigenous trees. This is a living and lasting testimony for her love for nature.

PHILANTHROPY

She advocated for girl child education and this is manifested through her children who have all cleared form four education and college. She also ensured that her grandchildren received adequate education and frequently lend her hand while supporting needy children from the Community.

Mother in law

She was the mother in law to Rachel, Anne, Betty, Mary, Agnes and Caroline. She was a grandmother and great-grand mother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

MARRIAGE

She was the second wife to the Late Senior Chief George Kimibey Arap Ngerechi and mother to Professor Richard K. Mibey- the Vice Chancellor of Moi University, Jane Chepkemoi, Renilson Mibey (US), Hellen, Regina, Caroline and the late Rose.
She was also the stepmother to Francis, Sarah, Lydia, Priscilla, Reuben, Miriam, Catherine, Florence, Vivian, Paul and Joseph.

CHRISTIANITY

She was a devoted member of the African Gospel Church, Nyambugo where she served in various leadership positions.

SCHOOLING AND TRAINING

Despite the numerous challenges of that time she went to school upto standard four and later trained as a farmer in Kabianga Farmers Training Centre. She was a great farmer who frequently won awards and her farm was always converted into demonstration centre while training other farmers within the region.

BIRTH

The late Mrs Alice Tabutany Ngerechi was born in 1928 in Nyambugo village, Sigor Division, Chepalungu Sub-county of Bomet County.

She was the daughter to the late Kiplasoi Arap Sitonik and the late Eunice Tapnyolei Sitonik of Nyambugo village in Bomet County. She was a sister to 7 brothers and 3 sisters; the late Esther Mitei from Chemaner, the late William Lasoi, Leah Mosonik, the late Jonathan Lasoi, the late Joseph Bett, Daniel Bett, Grace Kimeto, John Lasoi, Edwin Bett, Joel Bett. She was also stepsister to Tabletgoi Korkoren, John Chelule, Sarah Rutoh, the late Daudi Chelule, Pauline Koech and Richard Chelule.
