Life Biography of Allan Heimes

     Allan Clarence Joseph Heimes was born in Hartington, Nebraska on July 23, 1941 to Albert and Rose (Rupiper) Heimes. He has two sisters, Alice Beach and Alberta Hall, and two brothers, Alton Heimes and Roman Heimes. As a child, he attended country school. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School, now known as Hartington Cedar Catholic, in 1959. He left for basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri on December 12, 1963. He attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and was assigned to the 37th Cavalry Division attached to the 11th Air Assault in Ft. Benning, Georgia. He attained the rank of Private First Class with an Army Expert Shooting Badge. During the last nine months of his service, he was the Chapel’s assistant. He received an honorable discharge on September 12, 1965.
      Heimes married Arlene Thoene on June 4, 1966. From that marriage there were five children: Carol, Terry, Lisa, Jeffery, and KayLynn. They farmed in Cedar County for ten years before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska in 1976. He worked in construction until his retirement in 2006. After retirement he continued assisting local farmers with fall harvest.
      Heimes enjoys spending time with his seventeen grandchildren. Some of his hobbies are dancing, playing the piano, auctioneering, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and traveling with his RV.
