“If you can keep your head when all about you
  are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
  but make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
  or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
  and yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:”
- Excerpts of “If” by Rudyard Kipling
One of daddy’s favourite poems.

I miss you daddy and I’m ever grateful for teaching me the art of writing and how to appreciate the literary arts.
Even in death, I remain proud of you and what you stood for.
It’s so difficult living in this society where integrity is no longer appreciated but cutting corners is the order of the day. However, I remain resolute in standing for the truth always and imbibing all you taught me and being a good citizen.
Continue to rest in peace in the bosom of The Lord.

A girl couldn't hope for a stronger father figure or more compelling influence to live a life of integrity. A girl couldn't but be proud of such a clean legacy. I miss you and remember you fondly.

It's been 14 years since you left us yet we remember you as if it were yesterday. You had a lasting impact in all our lives and we'll never forget you. Daddy, you would have been 94 years today and we miss you dearly. Continue to rest in peace.

. I wonder how you would have coped in Nigeria of today. Corruption which you abhorred is the order of the day in all areas. It negates what you stood for. I remember this poem by Josiah Gilbert Holland you taught us:         GOD, give us men! A time like this demands
Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands;
Men whom the lust of office does not kill;
Men whom the spoils of office can not buy;
Men who possess opinions and a will;
Men who have honor; men who will not lie;
Men who can stand before a demagogue
And damn his treacherous flatteries without winking!
Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog
In public duty, and in private thinking;
For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds,
Their large professions and their little deeds,
Mingle in selfish strife, lo! Freedom weeps,
Wrong rules the land and waiting Justice sleeps.                                 I miss you daddy. Rest on dad, Man of integrity

You were a loving father that cared for your household at all times. Your very humble background made you ensure that we lacked nothing. Yet you ensured that you brought us up in the most disciplined manner ensuring that integrity was our watchword. You will be forever missed. I am however grateful for all you taught us. It has not been in vain. Rest on in the bosom of the Lord man of integrity.

It's 13 years now since you exited, I remember you fondly, strict African dad, no nonsense, great provider, very hard working. This side of you has enabled me weather the many storms that have come and gone. I'm stronger for it.
Your hearty laughter, love for life, sweet tooth, search for new books and words live with me in your grand kids.
You lived well and loved your fellow men, relatives, strangers and acquaintances little wonder that even in death I still am asked are you Cyril's daughter?
I miss you, rest on daddy. Rest on!!

We thank God Almighty for the great Daddy we had in Ambassador (Sir) C. C. Uchuno, who left this world on 21st April 2006. No doubt, he lived a worthy, happy and fulfilled life for which we remain eternally grateful to God. Fourteen years have gone by, yet it seems like yesterday. How time flies. Daddy was a great man, a rare breed, a gift to humanity, a brilliant and intellectual scholar of his time, an impeccable and excellent diplomat and a great blessing to the Uchuno family. As the current Head (Diokpa) of the Uchuno dynasty, I remain grateful to God for coming from the root of such a magnificent colossus, a disciplinarian of the Spartan genre, an astute administrator and a strong and faithful family man who would stop at nothing to see to the development of everyone in the family. There is no doubt that he is already enjoying a place of honour and bliss in the God's Kingdom for such is the rightful place for people of his type who never believed in or looked elsewhere but unto God for solace, salvation and assistance. He had an unshaken faith in God Almighty and enjoined all to follow suit. We ask God to bless his soul and continue to keep him joyfully in His bosom. Peace profound.
