IN REMEMBRANCE OF OUR BELOVED FATHER, PAPA AMBROSE MUNGO.

Papa Ambrose Mungo was born on 18 September 1933 at Yoke- Muyuka, South West Region of Cameroon to  Late Pa Lawrence Ebenki Mungo and Josepha Mungo.

He attended Roman Catholic primary school Owe-Muyuka from 1942 to 1946 and the RCM Fiango Kumba from 1947 to 1948.  Between 1948-1950 he trained and worked as a Catechist in Owe-Muyuka. From 1950-1953, Pa Mungo attended St. Joseph’s College Sasse, Buea where he obtained his London GCE Certificate with distinction in four subjects. Between 1963 and1964, Pa Mungo was awarded a British Council Scholarship to Great Britain from where he obtained a Court Registry Diploma from Cambridge in 1964.

Prior to going to Britain, Pa Ambrose Mungo worked as a Custom Officer for a  brief period between 1954-1955 and resigned for personal reasons. He then joined the Judicial Department as a clerk of the Magistrate Court in Buea, serving as a court Registrar in Buea, Mamfe and Bamenda. He served as  Chief Registrar in the Court of Appeal in Buea from 1984 to 1988 when he retired.

Pa was honored by the Cameroon Government for his distinguish service with a Cameroon knight of Merit in 1973 and the Cameroon order of valor in 1985.
 

In 1960 Pa Mungo got married to late Mama Juliana Ajocha, who died in 1981. Together, they were blessed with 11 children, two of whom died at a tender age. Five years later in 1986, he married Madame Pauline Teng and together they had two children.

Pa Mungo was fondly called by his peers AM. As a young man at school he received the nick name ``Dictionary’’

He was a devoted practicing Catholic Christian who raised his children on Catholic principles and doctrines. He was very caring and protective of his children, especially after the death of his first wife. He was fun loving and will be remembered for his sense of humor. Even on his dying bed Pa continued to cheer us up. His last humour was "I have been Discharged and Acquitted". When Pa Mungo turned 70, he fondly told all his children that henceforth he was living on overtime.

Pa Mungo left behind his beloved wife, Pauline Mungo, his children: Dr. Kate Mungo, Dr. Julius Mungo, Ms. Florence Mungo, Mr. Paul Mungo, Mrs. Bekong Josepha Mungo,  Dr. Mrs Chiawah Cecilia Mungo, Mrs. Mokam Emerentia Mungo, Mr. Emmanuel Mungo, Ms. Pamela Mungo, Frederick Mungo, Ambrose Mungo jr, as well as 17 grand children, a sister, nephews, nieces, other relatives, in-laws and dear friends to mourn him.

Pa go ye, we love thee but God love thee more. May your soul rest in perfect peace.
