Her Life
August 1, 2014

Andrea Alana “Rudy” Burress Chivers was born November 22, 1960 in West Point, GA. She departed this earth on July 30, 2014 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Andrea is a 1979 graduate of West Point High School. She attended Clark Atlanta University in 1979. For many years she was a valued employee of Colorado Box Beef before transferring to Sherwood Foods with beloved colleagues.

“Rudy” as she was best known, was a kind and loving woman. Though biologically an only child, she has a host of “brothers and sisters.” As a proud member of the Class of 1979, people often noted how close the class remained throughout the years. She often bragged that her class was the closest of all West Point High’s graduating classes. Years ago she rejoined Emanuel Chapel C.M.E Church where she was a valued and active member. She traveled many weekends to her home in West Point, affectionately known as “the county shack”, to be with her West Point family.

Rudy was many things to many people—sister, friend, niece, cousin and mother but her favorite role—grandmother to Morgan! Though a grandmother on earth for such a short time she showered Morgan with so much love and affection. Rudy believed in loving GOD first and with that everything will fall into place.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Averett Burress and Rosalind Parker; maternal grandparents, Walker and Rosa Bell Parker.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Larredrea Chivers, Riverdale, GA; granddaughter Morgan Lockhart, Riverdale, GA; aunt Emily Reed, Hawaii; uncles Pearson (Bernice) Parker, Virginia; Edgar (Mona) Parker, Albany, GA; Greg (Merita) Parker, Savannah, GA; a host of other relatives, loved ones, and very special friends.
