This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Dake Weatherford. Andrew Dake Weatherford peacefully left his earthly body while surrounded by family at the Women's & children's Hospital at Huntsville Hospital Monday, October 15, 2012. Dake savored life with a cheerful exuberant spirit for 28 years despite Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. He was baptized March 2, 1997 at Second Street Church of Christ and was a dedicated Christian who thrived on fellowship and service. Dake graduated from Richland High School in 2003 and attended Calhoun Community college in Decatur, AL.
Dake maintained a close circle of friends beginning in elementary school in Decatur, AL and expanded through his active involvement with church youth groups, mission trips, and spiritual retreats. Everyone who met Dake knew him to be a fun-loving young man who enjoyed music, movies, and a good laugh. He expressed his love for his parents and sisters by supporting their individual interests of Tennessee football, art, adventurous food, and gymnastics. He always looked forward to playing board games with his cousins and treasure hunting at thrift stores with his best friends. In the last year, he made many personal sacrifies to participate in a research study to help others who will battle with Duchenne's in the future.
The family thanks you for rejoicing in Dake's release and celebrating his life today.
In accordance with Dake's own requests, the family asks for donations to be made in his memory with the Parents Project for Muscular Dystrophy at 158 Linwood Plaza Suite 220, Fort Lee, NJ 07024.
