Andrew with SF 49er Ronnie Lott at Great America for American Cancer Courageous Kids Day...Mother's Day 2010

March 31, 2011

I remember when I first met Andrew.. we weren't the closest of friends or anything but those memories of just getting to talk to him were too, life changing. We just started up pep band rehearsal, practicing marching to be specific. But it wasn't a very normal day, cause I spotted a 'new student'. He seemed fairly quiet, but there was a glow of life that he gave off. Continuing practice as if nothing, I really wanted to meet this kid. FINALLY practice was over, Mandie and I practically ran up to him and just started talking. Andrew was a very sweet kid, no matter how loud or obnoxious we got, not once did he push away or give us a cold shoulder. We asked him millions of questions within ten minutes and decided that we'd all hang out the next day. And so the friendship with him began.
Unfortunately, we couldn't find Andrew the day after, but we got to see him a couple more times. Some not so vivid as others. The day i remember most with Andrew was the night of a band concert. I was sooo excited to see him again, it had been quite some time before i had got to. Within that night, i found out a lot about this brave soldier. His passion for guitar, favorite band, previous schools and all that fun stuff (: It seems like it could have been the other night, what he was wearing, how strange he was standing (I think mandie made him feeling awkward hahah) just all of it... i never thought it'd be the last time i actually got to SEE him smile, SEE him preform, just watch this amazing musician. I remember when i first saw one of his youtube videos, i was in awe about it ! he made it look so easy ! When i found out he passed, i cried watching that video..
Its hard to believe several months have gone by since i saw andrew, i miss him dearly. But i know he's rockin with the angels right now and watching over his loved ones. Andrew was a one of a kind young man, and the fact i even got to know him was a blessing. I must say, we'll see each other again. But for now, Ill see you later Andrew<3 Rest In Peace hun..
