The daughter of the late George C. and Josie M. Thomas Smith, Mrs. Alfred was born in Ft. Mitchell, AL and was a member of Word of Truth Ministries where she served as Choir Director, with the Usher's and Culinary Ministries and was a "Mother of the Church". She sung with the Gospel Clouds. Mrs. Alfred was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Alice Griffith.

Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: her husband of 50 years, Mr. Oscar Alfred; a daughter, Barbara Bass; five grandchildren, Rev. Christopher Smith (Jeanelle), Moneka Griffith, SFC LaKesha Coleman (SFC Jerome), Sunkela Griffith and Terelle Stevenson; 18 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; two sisters, Josie M. Clayton and Millie Dudley; a brother-in-law, Carlton Alfred; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
