Today is Veterans Day. There will be special a dedication today at the Vets Home which will honor in perpetuity The 3 Voecks brothers, WWII Vets with a bench in their honor. My Dad, a favorite uncle and another uncle, a purple heart recipient I only know from photos and stories. May their service and contribution always be remembered"

Art was the first soldier to be killed in action from the Norfolk area in WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heartl for his service. He was only 28 years old at his death. Since Art died so young, there are very few people alive who actually knew him; however, both of his brothers (Arnie and Gib) kept him alive in our memories.

Anne later married Foy Clark. After her death, her children found Art's Purple Heart and information among her things. Jim Clark called Larry to ask if the Voecks family's would like to have them. Larry and Jim decided to offer the items to the Norfolk Vet's Home for display .We want to thank the Clark family for preserving these items and helping to find a good home for them.
