Arthur, fondly known as "Junior" when he was young and Stew as he got older, was the son of Arthur Allen Stewart, Sr and Elizabeth Walker Butcher.

Stew's natural mother died when he was eleven years old and was raised by Josephine Meadows who became his mother. He loved her with an undying love and there wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for her.

March 19, 1950 he married Josephine Cowen whom he stated would always have his heart in the palms of her hands.

He loved spending time with his family and he loved to laugh. He believed that the sky was the limit and that there was nothing you couldn't do if you put your mind to it. He was godly proud and loved his children and grandchildren.

His last years were spent glorifying God for all He had done for him.
