Life Legacy


Funeral services for Arvid O. Raasch, 87, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644, and the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska.
Mr. Raasch died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Norfolk Veterans Home.
 Arvid O. Raasch was born January 13, 1927 at Hadar the son of Elmer and Elsie (Haase) Raasch. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School with the class of 1944. He farmed with his father until serving with the U.S. Marine Corps first from September 1945 until September 1946 and then October 1950 until November 1951.
Arvid married Gwendolyn Kaun on September 21, 1954. He own and operated Raasch Repair – Blacksmith in Hadar and then worked as a foreman and supervisor for the Bleyhl Construction for seven years and then for Walnut Grove for 24 years retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he ushered and served on the financial committee and the American Legion Post 16.
Arvid is survived by his wife Gwen Raasch of Norfolk, and their children and spouses, Scott and Jona Raasch of Lincoln, Nancy and Bill Bazyn of Norfolk, and Todd Raasch of Norfolk, one brother Dale and Alta Raasch of Norfolk, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dwayne Raasch
