Her Life

The daughter of the late Gus and Lessie Key Crocker, Mrs. Posey was born in Birmingham, AL and was a 1947 graduate of Parker High School. She obtained her Bachelors degree from Alabama State College in 1953 and Masters degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. She was an educator with the Muscogee County School System, retiring after 33 years from Hardaway High School. She was a member of the First African Baptist Church where she served with Esther Circle. She was also a member of the Muscogee, Georgia, and the Retired Georgia Educators Associations, the Columbus-Phenix City Chapter of Negro Business and Professional Women Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Life Member). She volunteered with Columbus Regional Medical Center as a Pink Lady, and at the Columbus River Center. She was recognized as a Gracious Lady of Georgia in 2005. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Johnnie East and Gussie Matteson.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sandra Posey Adams; one grandson, Wilbert Adams; a step granddaughters, Marquitta Adams Caesar (Joseph); the Crocker Family; two godchildren, Monica Alexander, Dorothy and James Mays; loving neighbors and friends.
