Barbara Elkins, 70, of Clermont, FL passed away Thursday, January 9th, 2014 with her beloved husband of 44 years, Michael, at her side.

She was a generous, loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. With an infectious laugh and fabulous sense of humor, she brightened the room around her. Barbara had many accomplishments, but was most proud of her family. She touched many lives, and her loving influence will be felt in her children, grandchildren, and many generations to come.

Barbara was born on October 2, 1943 in Chelsea, MA to Douglas and Ann Starratt. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a B.A. in Art Education then taught in Boston area schools. In 1969, she married Michael in Norwood, MA. Together they moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1977 where Barbara worked for the Pikes Peak Library District.

Upon retirement in 2003, she and Michael moved to Clermont, FL. She returned to her passion for art and developed a new love for painting watercolors. She was an accomplished artist with a special talent for painting portraits, birds and seascapes. There are charitable donations of her work throughout the Orlando area.

Barbara is survived by her husband Michael; children Anthony(Stephanie) of Davidson, NC, Kimberley(Eric) of Boulder, CO and Amy (Dave) of Denver, CO; brothers Richard and Paul; grandchildren Sarah, Lindsay, Noah, and Ann; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.Barbara is preceded in death by her father and mother.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, January 16, 2014, following a 10:15 A.M. visitation, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 720 12th Street, Clermont, Florida 34711. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Lake Art League (www.southlakeartleague.com), P.O. Box 12172, Clermont, Florida 34712.
