Her Life

Mommy

August 18, 2016
Born in 1956 as Barbara Jo Adcock in Daniels Maryland. She was the oldest child of 4. Born to James Adcock Sr. and Patricia Adcock  (Justice ). I dont know to much of her childhood but i know they moved to Woodlawn in the late 60s early 70s. Where my mother Graduated class of 1975 of Woodlawn Sr.High. she married my dad (John Bougourd 4th) her Junior year(1974) and in June of 75 they had my big brother Johnny. They weren't blessed with me until 77. I know times were tough for them but they did the best they could for us kids. But a few years later they divorced. My mom put herself through school and became a phlebotomy Tech 2, she loved working in the NICU but as time passed her health took turn after turn for the worst. She had to give up the hospital but was lucky enough to finish her career out at Quest Diagnostics. Where she retired from in 2010. My mother loved her heritage. She was always proud to say she was Monacan! She was so proud of all the hard work put in to keep our history in the fore front. She always talked about my sister Tami and how hard she worked for the tribe. She only had one other major love in her life and that was my kids. Now dont get me wrong my brother was her best friend ..her road dog! But her grand babies were her life! My mom spent her life loving everyone. She had such a good heart and a sweet soul. I was blessed to have her for 38 years. Now she's home with or Lord and out of pain. I miss her every day. Lupus and diabetes a bad heart and all the trickle effects took a toll on her poor body but they couldn't touch her smile. My mom and i butted heads to say the least but the last couple of years we really started to enjoy one another. My mother was a true warrior . She fought hard her whole life. I guess that's where I get it from.
