Barbara K. Hayden, 88 of Punta Gorda, Fl. formerly South Windsor CT, passed into eternal rest on June 3rd 2014. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wendell of 62 years.

She was born February 23, 1926 in Manchester, CT. daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Bach) Kuster. She was a resident of Punta Gorda Fl. for 11 years and a prior resident of South Windsor CT for 46 years. Prior to her retirement she was an Office Administrator at Hall and Muska Oil Company.

She loved to read and garden. She enjoyed making warm hats for under privileged children for the cold New England winters-even while she was in the hospital. She was an avid fan of UConn Huskies Women's basketball and never missed a game. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship, the choir, and was a deacon at Pilgrim Church in Port Charlotte FL, and as well, Broad Brook Congregational Church and First Church in South Windsor in CT.

Barbara will be deeply and forever missed by her children, Susan Lopes of Punta Gorda, FL., Shelley Wilkerson (John) of Broad Brook CT., Nancy Hux (Larry) of Punta Gorda FL. She will also be missed by her three grandchildren, Tony Lopes (Van) of Trumbull, CT, Teri Lopes of Canton, CT., and David Hux of Kannapolis NC., and her sister-in-law Sarah Kuster of Granby, CT. Brother-in-law Phillip Hayden (Kathy) of Edmonds, WA, and sister-in-law Beverly Senger of So. Cle Elum, WA., and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her brother Ralph Kuster of Granby, Ct.

Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service on June 14th at 11:00 at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Port Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte, FL at www.Tidewell.org.
