His Life
August 13, 2015

Benedicto “Benny” Ballesteros Ganal passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family.

Benny, as we know him, was a man of faith, with a strong devotion to family, friends, and pets.  He was born on March 25, 1946, in Barrio Santiago, Solsona Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Rosamillia and Federico Ganal.

In January 1970, Benny moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and created a wonderful life for his family.  After having served in the Merchant Marines for three years, he found his life’s calling.  For over 45 years, he provided outstanding service to his clients as a life insurance agent.   Benny garnered many sales and underwriting awards.

Benny was an avid sports fan and loved watching football, basketball, and horseracing.  His excitement for traveling to Las Vegas and New York was contagious.

Distances did not discourage Benny in showing his devotion and aloha spirit to his extended family.  In one example, he traveled long distances to visit his mother in California at least once a year.  Additionally, he closed the gap by calling her frequently, sending gifts of love, and setting up regular family gatherings.  We cherish the memories and the time we spent together.

Benny is survived by his wife, Lynn Ganal, his two children: Cheryle Ganal-Ihori (Aaron Ihori), and Engelbert “Gil/Berty” Ganal; his five siblings: Arsenia (Alex) Baptista, Patti (Romeo) Esperanza, Leticia (Pat) Morales, Corazon Ganal, and Lily (Joel) Narusawa.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 4 at Nuuanu Memorial Park, 2233 Nuuanu Avenue.
