I had set this out in my room for his birthday this year. Dino actually gave me the sweater some time last year, in the Fall I believe, and it was Uncle Bernards. I remember when she first gave it to me she said it still smelled like him and that made me so happy. Every now and then I wear it in memory of Bernard and think about all the times we spoke on Tuesday nights and him looking inside the Business Office window waving and talking to me. Sometimes I get emotional putting the chain back on the double doors at the church, I know that was his job. I make sure that when I'm there I put the chain on myself just to remind me of Uncle Bernard.

I also remember, last year the Sunday after the Run-Walk, I told him that Dannielle and I ran the whole 3k and he laughed at me and said, "I bet, y'all look like them skinny Africans that always be winnin." I couldn't help but laugh. I appreciated his friendship and how he always looked out for me.

I miss you Bernard!

Remembering Bnard on His Birthday

March 3, 2014

Bnard,
Today, March 3, 2014, is your 53rd birthday.  I know you are in the best place, with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Of course, I miss you being here with me in body, yet your spirit and wonderful memories of you are forever in my heart and mind.

Rest assured that I am supporting and watching over Dino as she continues to move forward managing her life without you.  We are trusting God and know that we will see you again; knowing this is such a comfort!

Loving you always,
Your sister
Locke.

So Much Fun at the West House

June 1, 2013

Friday, May 31, 2013, we're making final preparations for Bnard's Memorial Service.  We gathered in Bnard and Dino's room (me, MayMay, Dino, Kisha, Maal, Mar D, Trice, Drea, Mimi, Roger, De, Wanny and Dino's friend {sorry, I can't remember her name}).  Dino began playing a video of me, May and Dino performing songs over Reece's house in Anaheim on September 9, 2001.  What a crack-up - we were just stoopid for no reason, yet the memories are priceless!

We watched a video (Video man was Bnard) of the Sounds of Holiness Concert, Rags to Riches in December 2001.  That was the bombest concert ever!  Lauren Hill (Kisha and De), Envogue (Dino, Trice, Neene, Nicholl), Natalie Cole (Dino), Out the Spirit Dancers, and The Band (Reece, Nita, MayMay, Lana).  Then we all got saved and used our talents for the Lord.
Cha would have been proud of the tenors (Maal, MarD, De, Wanny) and altos (Nita, MayMay, Dino, Kisha, Trice) on this night singing "In that Land".

The next video was of Donnielle and Dannielle's Sweet 16 birthday party in December 2001.  I was told that this party was the BOMB.  But... I must confess, after watching the video, I didn't know all that stuff was going on!  Whew, my nephews were totally off the chainz (DJ and MarD)!  Trice and Drea were spotlighted performing solo dances... We had so much fun clowning and laffing at the goings on at the party.

The crowd moved to the kitchen and living room - there was much laughter, showing pictures and discussion about the happenings at Kisha's 40th Party, Drea's b'day Limo Ride, andTrice's Tijuana adventure- the details of which I will not divulge... =)  CRAZINESS

I left the West House at 12:30 am and can't vouch for what happened afterwards...

Bnard, our family was together and shared & made memories that nite, yet wishing you were there.  You will remain in our hearts forever!

Love, Jaz

Great Spirit

A Gracious Host,
He always made sure you were comfortable and had enough to eat. I just remember being at my cousin Deo and Bernard house; Bernard was so attentive he made sure that the fireplace never went out and would check on you frequently, I will never forget his hospitality.

It was a pleasure knowing such a wonderful person.
