We shared many good times over the years on our many shopping trips, days out, holidays or just visits together. One things for sure Bernie loved spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. One story I will share is one Christmas time I was decorating the tree in the conservatory. I noticed from the window that Keirans rabbit did not look too well. I shouted for Bill to go and check her. He did and then he warned me to keep Keiran inside and away from window! Bernie rang for some reason during this time and I told her that Lucy rabbit was dead. Before I knew it she appeared at the back garden. She had with her a wee furry toy and a carrot. She asked for Keiran to come out to see her. They sat for ages in the garden, I wish I knew what she said to him. The toy and the carrot where put in the box with Lucy and buried together. She cuddled and consoled Keiran as only a granny can! (Sadly he doesn't remember what she said either. )

Holiday to Turkey

June 22, 2014
One summer quite a few years ago we went on a family holiday, Clive Me, Blayne and Nychole to Turkey taking Mammie with us and also joined by Gordy. The holiday turned out geat and we had some laughs during the trip some of these I share with you. We arrived at the hotel and Mum was trying to talk posh as she did, we got her a wheelchair thinking it would be handy for when we were out and about as save her walking too far. On the way to our apartment Gordy took charge of pushing duties and as we walked past the full restaurant beside the pool the wheel of the chair caught in the drainage channel of the pool nearly sending her into the water, Gordy stopped walked round the front and told her in a very loud voice " I knew we should have left u at hame " Walking away, she got up and pushed the chair herself to the apartment with the whole restaurant looking on in horror. That was only the start we went into town one day and decided to get a taxi back, the cars were left hand drive and if you knew Mum you would know her right leg didn't bend after a knee replacement didn't work out, we ended up puting her in the taxi with her leg straight out the window all the way back to the hotel, what a sight we must have looked... We thought we might have a bbq one night after that Clive and Gordy took charge and we bought some bits and a disposable bbq and they got on with making tea. They thought it would be a good idea to lite it behind the apartment and not on the balcony and got on with the cooking, only to discover they were being watched by a huge dog who chased them and proceeded to eat all the meat... Mammie not happy no tea tonight and she had gone to all the bother of stealing salt and pepper from the restaurant specially. The boys later wound her up by Clive and Gordy pretending the manager was on the phone requesting that the lady with the walking stick was to return th stolen condiments immediately, poor bugger was a nervous wreck. These memories amongst many many more make us laugh often and we thank god everyday that we were blessed to have such a fantastic, couragous, loving and very special Mammie and Granny for as long as we were allowed to keep her. Love and miss you always beautiful lady... xxxxx

Mother

I will tell you a couple stories. As many of you will remember my Dad Bill wee Scottie . My mum and dad had a bit of an argument once . If you knew my Dad you know he liked a wee dram now and then . Well he and mum had a right row . Mum locked him out the house he was banging and shouting though the letter box . Mum said we need to phone the police . But in them days no mobile phones . There was a phone box half way up the hill to the prefabs. So mind on we stayed in an up stair flat . So the only way out was to jump out the window . Well would you believe it I was the smallest . Dream on . But mum got me to sit on the window sill to see how high it was . I said was to high for me . So with a wee bit of encouragement she threw me out the window . To say I got a fright would be a lie . And no parachute. Phoned the police dad got lifted I got a row from the guy down stairs for messing up his front garden . No win situation . But for all she was a good mother to us all 7 children . Sadly wee sister Ann Passed away at just over a year old . That was a bad time for us all . But mum never forgot her her wee treasure . To bring us all up in a 2 bedroom flat she done well . She suffered greatly from Arthritis but this did not stop her . She visited Amanda her Daughter and family in NewZealand a good few times good on her . She loved her home Country Ireland . She was from Donegal . A small village called Annagry . I was like a wee pilgrimage for her . So I have taken up that reign with my wife and son . Well that's a wee bit about mum Bernie .Sure she will be looking down and looking after us all thanks mum miss you lots . Your loving Family xxxxx
