Bertha was born on November 29, 1925 in Broken Bow, OK to Albert Pendergraft and Myrtle Harper. She was the second oldest of 8 children, Chester Pendergraft, Lou Pendergraft, Clyde Pendergraft, Billie Pendergraft, Lillian Pendergraft, Dolores Pendergraft and Ellouise Pedergraft.

She married Samuel Coyle Meredith in Hot Springs, Ark. Together they had 4 children, Tony, Terry, Jerry and Sherry. 

Tony and his wife Carol gave Bert her first grandchildren, Johnny, Kevin and Dawn. 

Jerry and his former wife, Kathleen would give her a grandaughter, Katelynn

Sherry and her former husband Steve would give her two grandchildren, Stephanie and Steven. Sherry would also have a grandson Sergio.

Several great grandchildren would follow: Johnny and his wife Michelle (Mousie) - Dylan, Draven and Rhiannon; Dawn and her husband Rafael - Chanse; Kevin and his wife Laurie - Mia

She also had many nieces and nephews.
