Her Life
September 5, 2015

Mrs. Bowen was the wife of the late James Kirby Bowen (October 13, 2004), also of West Point, Georgia. She has fought a long and difficult battle with various illnesses and we know she would never leave us if it was in her control to stay. Her love and devotion to God and family was everything to her, as well as her many friends of First United Methodist Church of West Point. She was also a member of West Point Woman’s Club, Red Hat Society, Happy Chicks, and the Garden Club of West Point. All of her friends need to know how much joy you brought into her life and how much she loved you and looked forward to the various outings and get-togethers she shared with you.

Her family would also like to extend a very heart-felt thanks to the Physicians and their staff, the staff of Vernon Woods Retirement Community, the Nursing Staff of West Georgia Hospice of LaGrange, who played such a vital role in her care and keeping her with us for as long as humanly possible. You know who you are and we are deeply grateful for your support, your compassion, your love, and your extensive knowledge. You are all extremely rare individuals and we were blessed to have you care for her. Mrs. Bowen’s family know Jesus will welcome this loving and vibrant lady into Heaven and her memory will be forever etched in our hearts and minds.

Rest in Peace Mama, knowing that you have left a legacy for all of us to be proud of. Your love of life, nature, and people is unsurpassed. Gone but not forgotten. We will meet again. Your loving family.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Bowen Whitson (Jerry D. Whitson) of LaGrange, Cherrie Lynn Bowen of West Point, her Grandchildren James A. Tyrer, III, DMD (Laura Sampson Tyrer), Susan Dawn Hummel (Chris Hummel) of Phoenix, AZ, James Randall Whitson, Donna Whitson Lankford (Keith Lankford), Steve Garrett (Missy Garrett) all of LaGrange, and Jill Hale (Scott Hale) of West Point, and her precious Great Grandchildren who were the light of her life, Rachel Lauren Tyrer, James Lucas Tyrer, Gunner Lankford, Garin and Tyler Whitson, Holeigh Daniel (Walter Daniel) of West Point, GA, and Pax Herrin (Julia Herrin) of Marietta, GA.
