Her Life

Indigo- My shining star

January 14, 2013

Indi was the light of my life. She was so happy, alert and so eager to please and play. The absolute definition to me of radiance. A ray of sunshine. She was a loyal girl who would follow people everywhere as she adored company and had a natural inquisitive nature. She could find fun in everything she came across. Even hairdryers! Her energy was amazing and she never used to quieten down until 9pm when she liked her cuddles and having her neck and belly stroked. She would even use her mouth to flick your hand to her neck. Woe-be-tide you if you stopped stroking her, she was very verbal about that! She was a very affectionate girl who kissed and licked and would come and see you if you were ever down. Every day without fail she made you smile and laugh. Her personality was so strong and her beautiful nature meant she had alot of fans. Even strangers in the woods would say how lovely and friendly she was. If you went out she would sit and wait for you by the window and the welcome you received upon opening the door was incredible. She gradually got around a reluctant Tarka and they soon were cuddling and grooming each other and playing and chasing in the woods. Every walk she went on she managed to get a chase out of Tarka or the other whippets in her life. These chases could go on for ages as they all chased her around in a circle again and again. Her sense of fun was infectious. Her best play mate was Bertie, they had the same mental age and would adore spending time with each other playing and play fighting. Where Tarka liked a sleep in the day when not eating or going out on a walk, Indi did not rest. SHe would often nudge me when I was working with a teddy. Even when I walked down the stairs she would slide down on a long skirt as a game. The day we got her she had never seen outside of a garage in Wales. We took her outside to the grass and she was exploring and wagging her little tail. She seemed very happy to have this new home, garden and family in her life. Certainly you could say that that day was the best in her life at that point. Througout the day she would "talk" and if you responded she would talk back looking indignant. We also had a voice for her with a welsh accent and she never stopped talking and putting her opinion across! Indi was a key part of the family and made life fun and some of my happiest times have been with her and Tarka up the woods and around the house. The new house was bought with her in mind, I knew how much she would love having a big garden with a dog flap so she could keep busy in and out all day. It is a great shame she won't be there with us. Her toy box became bigger and bigger as she pinched all of Ben's teddies. She loved chewing bones and licking pate out of her kongs. She also enjoyed her food and any leftovers. Indi was super fast, she had a well toned and muscly body with a beautiful blue shiny coat. Her eyes were a greeny brown and rarely closed! She had some white patches - a swallow!- on her neck and chest. Also white feet. Her little belly was a pinky colour when not covered in mud. She also enjoyed digging deep holes in the garden and splashing through puddles. I feel as if I have lost my "shadow" as she was like a little lamb during the day. At night she refused to sleep on her own or downstairs. She would play musical beds and ensure she got a cuddle of both Ben and I. If one of us escaped to the top bunk she would whine crossly at the bottom until you got into bed with her and gave her the cuddles and warmth she desired. My love for Indi was unconditional and immeasurable. I know she felt the same for all of us too. I cannot think that she had one day without being happy and making someone else happy. Indi died running fast and enjoying what she was doing with Tarka. I hope that it was over in a second for her and that she did not suffer. I will keep her in my heart until we meet again and she will be forever in my thoughts. I hope we meet and are together again one day, Indigo. Mummy XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
