Brenda Darnell Johnson Jones, 65, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of Larry Jones Sr. Born January 1, 1949, she was the daughter of the Elaine Smith Johnson and the late James Edward Johnson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole Kimberly Jones. Brenda was baptized at Fifth Street Baptist Church at an early age. She is survived by a daughter, Angelia "Stacy" Vaughn of Fayetteville, N.C.; three sons, Bruce Johnson of Brookneal, Va., SFC Larry Jones of St. Louis, Mo. and Nictric Jones of the home; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rev. Mary Woodruff (Deacon James Woodruff) of Amherst, Va. and Vivian Berry of Centreville, Va.; one brother, Reginald Johnson of Lynchburg, Va.; one uncle, Calvin Smith; one aunt-in-law, Marie Smith; a devoted niece, Sonja Brown of Virginia Beach, Va.; a devoted nephew, Gary Johnson of Forest, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins that were all very special to her heart and friends.
