|Let the memory of Bryce be with us forever|
PFC Bryce E. Gautier, 22, of Cypress, California. A goofy kid growing up, he was calm in emergencies and never paled at the sight of blood. Selected as a captain on the water polo team his senior year and voted "Most Dependable" of the senior class, he was happy to help whenever needed. He worked part-time after graduating from Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove in 2005. In 2007 he decided to join the Army because he thought it would help him grow up, give something back to his country, and have some structure and focus in his life. He eventually wanted to become a nurse. He trained as a combat medic and had graduated from Airborne school in October 2008. Currently assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, he was one of five soldiers killed when their military vehicle was struck by a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq. Bryce was a medic with the unit and had deployed to Iraq in January 2009. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Bryce died exactly one year after his father did. Bryce is survived by his mother, Mellloney Ward; his twin sister Courtney; his brother Evan; & his sister-in-law, Nicole Gautier.
