Her Loves

Buky loved her family and friends passionately . She was fiercely loyal and protective of her loved ones. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate birthdays, weddings, christenings and many happy occasions.

Buky  got married to Ayokunle in 2014, in a beautiful ceremony attende by friends and family from across the world. They welcomed their wonderful daughter Oluwadara in 2015.

Buky was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a caring daughter and sister and a loyal and devoted friend.

She will be greatly missed by ALL!

Her Interests

Buky was a lover of the arts;  she loved music: classical, contemporary christian, pop, R&B. She studied and played the piano for many years, passing several examinations in the theory and practice of music of the Royal College of Music, London.

She throughly enjoyed theater; broadway shows , off-broadway shows, broadway tours in cities or local shows with her favorite musical being Les Miserables.

She was also an avid reader from Achebe to Hemmingway and in more recent years Adichie. You could always be sure to find 1 or 2 NYT best sellers on her shelf.

Buky loved to travel, criss-crossing the globe to spend time with family and friends while discovering new places. She traveled widely in North America, South America, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Buky loved and served God diligently from her early days as a member of the Sunbeam children's choir (All Souls church, bodija) to her days in the adult choir. In recent years, she worshipped at Jesus House, DC, Church of the Redeemer, City Church; the most important aspect was her relationship with her Lord.

Professional Life

Buky completed her residency training in Pediatrics at the Childrens Hospital, Washington DC. She then worked as an emergency room physician at Childrens Hopsital, Washington DC till 2010 when she relocated to Nigeria.

She worked as a consultant pediatrician at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja Lagos from 2010- 2012.

She then returned to Childrens hospital in Washington DC in 2012 where she worked until she relocated to Seattle.

Buky was an excellent pediatrician who loved kids whole heartedly and often went over and beyond what was expected in her role.

Education

Her initial education was at Maryhill Convent Scool (primary school)  where she was an outstanding pupil. On prize-giving day in her final year, Buky was awarded more than half of all the academic prizes.

She then proceeded in 1986 to the International School Ibadan (secondary school) where she met many of her lifelong friends whom she remained extremely close to until the end.

In 1992, she was admitted to the University of Ibadan to study medicine (MB,BS) where she also excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities. She was a member of the Dokita Editorial Board ,OGUMSA and the Alaanu Choir.

After graduation and her housejob/internship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, she proceeded to Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a Masters in Public Health (MPH) in 2002.

Olubukola Fagbamiye (nee Osinusi), Buky was born to Prof Bandele and Kikelomo Osinusi on December 8, 1975 and grew up in a close knit family with her brothers and sister (Tosin, Kemi and Lanre).
