Camilla Louise Schmuecker was born on September 5, 1925 to John and Theresa (Throener) Ritter on the family farm west of West Point and attended St. Boniface Catholic School. On June 22, 1943, Camilla married Leonard Schmuecker at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Monterey. The couple farmed south of St. Charles Township before moving to West Point in 1978. Camilla took great pride in being a farm wife and would single-handedly put up the corn crib for ear corn. She took on many responsibilities including hauling grain with her John Deere 630 tractor. Over the years, Camilla had a variety of jobs. Those included the West Point Nursing Home, Baumann’s Department Store, Dahl’s Steakhouse in Scribner, and Neligh House.

Camilla was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed making quilts. Camilla was known to bake cookies and apple pies from the fall harvest and attend the West Point Bombers games. One of her favorite activities at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community was bingo. Most of all, Camilla loved the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include son David (Linda) Schmuecker of West Point; daughter Connie (Joe) Kaup of Scribner; grandchildren Lori (Scott) Beale, Joe L. Kaup, Jason (Alisha) Kaup, Jeremy (Jamie) Kaup, Rick Schmuecker, Shelley Schmuecker, and Eric (Emily) Schmuecker; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Beale, Chandler and Landon Kaup, Tanner and Tenley Kaup, and Camilla and Cooper Schmuecker.

Camilla was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard in 2013; son Kenny in November 1970; brother Alois Ritter; and sisters Leona Burger, Delores Mendlik, Bonnie Flowers, and Cecelia Hegemann.
