Her Life
June 5, 2016

Candi has walked the hardest road, had more pain than a thousand people should've borne!  Where's FAIR?!?!?!?  She was kind and compassionate, and didn't complain and ask why me?, and always had a smile for friends!  Where's Karma?!?  She's the bravest person I've ever known or ever will!  When we left the hospital, I was hoping and expecting a long goodbye, but who knew?  I was hoping and expecting to go home and have her make a great turn around, as she'd done so many times before!  She tried!!!  She tried so hard!  She had such a good attitude!  Not me. I'm PISSED!  I love her so much!  She was my baby for 47-1/2 years!!  I don't know how not to be her mother!  I miss her so much!!!!!!!!!!

Candi Jo Mrozek Figler SMOCK

Candi Jo Mrozek Figler, Smock PA, left us far too soon on June 2, 2016. Despite waging an epic and courageous 47 year battle with a rare congenital heart disease and its devastating consequences, she had a remarkable outlook on life! She loved the Lord and her family, as well as her church family and she delighted in her many friends, whom she made for lifetime. From the very start, she touched everyone she met.

Candi had a quick wit, was awfully smart, and mostly, was just audacious! Her sometimes sarcastic and wiseguy manner covered a kind and soft heart. If she cut you a 'look', though, you'd be wise to 'listen'. She knew what she wanted and was unafraid to ask for or to go after it.

Candi was constant and determined every day and accomplished the task at hand, no matter how difficult, with Grace. Her attitude and resiliency were truly amazing and awe-inspiring! Her best times were always time spent with Friends. She loved the beach. Riding in a car with the windows down while being serenaded by Tim McGraw or going to Bingo were great fun. At home, Crosswords (which she was terrific at), Candy Crush, texting with friends, reading hopeful and uplifting books and TV were her hobbies.

She will be missed by her loving husband, Alex, whom she cherished, her mom, Betty Jane Laughery Mrozek, who adored her and forever will, her father Joe, her caring brother Tim Herspold, wife Kelly, and children Gavin, Peyton and Mallory, her faithful sister Kristi Herspold and children Brady, Kassidy and Landon, her wonderful and supportive Uncle Sam Laughery and Aunt Peggy, her loyal best friend, Deneen Garbutt, her thoughtful long time friend, Ernie Poplarchick, her childhood and forever friend, Paula, her goodhearted mother-in-law, Linda Figler, a host of close cousins, all her other bodacious gal pals and many other friends.

Greeting her in heaven, I'm sure, will be her beloved and long-missed Nanny and Pap, Jane and Jimmy Laughery, her other grandparents, Norma and Joe Mrozek, and Uncle Derek, Aunt Lillian, Uncle George and Cousin Randi Laughery.

Our thanks to kind and compassionate nurses Brandy, Teresa, Colleen and Mary Lynn, among others. Thank you to Uniontown Hospital. Thank you to Dr. Dai, Dr. Shah, Cheryl and Debbie. Also, thanks go to Children's Hospital and University of Pittsburgh for 47 years of effort and care.
