Mrs. Carmen Virginia Wells Perkins,64 of Columbus, passed on February 18, 2015 at Lillian Carter Health and Rehabilitation Home in Plains, Georgia.

She was born on June 27, 1950, in Topeka, Kansas, to Roger and Dorothy Wells. A graduate of Washburn University, Mrs. Perkins was a lifelong educator, having taught for over 35 years. She enriched young minds from Topeka, Kansas to Stewart County to Muscogee County as a teacher, having taught at Daniel Middle and Double Churches Middle Schools. She received her Masters and specialist degrees from Troy State University. She was a member of St. John AME Church, Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Jack and Jill of America, Inc., as well as, other professional and civic organizations. 

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Jolly, Sr., and her father, Roger W. Wells.

She is survived by her three children, McKinley C. Patterson III , Jonathan S.E. Perkins and Charisse Perkins Woolridge (Michael); her mother, Mrs. Dorothy L. Wells; her sister, Rhonda Wells; her beloved grandchildren, Blair C. Patterson, Chandler E.M. Patterson, Mckinley C. Patterson IV, Mckenzie Patterson, Michael J, Woolridge II, Mariah C. Woolridge, Memphis J. Woolridge, Tianna Patterson, and Christian Patterson; and her friend and the father of her children, John H. Perkins.
