Shared by your Chi Omega Sister

February 3, 2016

As her sister Neda has said,"I cannot believe Carol is gone!"  She was so special!
Carol was my roomie, my dear friend, and a beautiful person in every way.
Our friendship began when Carol and I were "pot-luck" roommates our freshman year at the University of Texas and felt we had been blessed to be brought together in so many ways.  We laughed, cried, cheered each other on during finals, and shared our love for life and family.  Carol and I both were the older sisters, had fathers in the Chevrolet business, and became even dearer to each other as we became Chi Omega sisters in the Iota Chapter at UT.  She was a bridesmaid in John and my wedding 53 years ago.  She had three boys and I had three girls.  She was the Godmother of our daughter, Michelle.  She was the unconditional friend who remained unwavering and dearly loving in our friendship as we faced joys and adversities through the years. We even laughed when we learned that each had purchased Camaro convertibles as 70 year olds!  She and Michael brought such joy to John and me when they came to Nacogdoches for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration and shared their amazing dancing talent and beautiful smiles with all.

I will miss you, Carol, and at the same time celebrate your earthly life in which you enriched my life and so many others. May we look forward to the day we meet again beyond this earthly life.  John and I send our love and condolences to you, Michael, and your family.   Love and blessings.
With Chi O Love!!!

Good Bye My Friend(a poem by me)

February 2, 2016

I now must  say goodbye to you,

      my sweet and trusted friend.

There is no doubt in my mind,

we are soon to meet again.

I'm thankful for the short time,

    we traveled the same road.

It's good to have a friend along,

to lighten up the load .

I cherish every moment

that we shared along the way.

And think of oh so many times

  you brightened up my day.

I know  you're up ahead of me ,

I still can see your light.

I still can hear your laughter ,

up ahead but out of sight.

                   I will miss you Carol.

To me Carol was the most beautiful school beauty @ MWHS.  Quite the majorette, she was also athletic.  Later when our children united in marriage, she told me she envied my athletic ability; but Carol's horsemanship proved she was a great athlete.  I felt it was well-deserved that she won first to my second as rodeo queen 3 times.  When we were both single, we rode together when I exercised her horses for her, enjoying such beautiful animals...typical happening, perhaps, in a small town where we both lived most of our lives, having grandsons in common was the most delightful common interest.  I appreciated her delicious covered dishes she brought when I was caring for Mom.  I think what I will miss most is watching Carol & Mike dance @ class reunions & visiting @ family holiday celebrations.  They were so very fantastic.  Carol was positive, humble & such a gracious hostess.  She hosted Katy's & Blake's wedding shower about this time last year, happily giving me a tour of their new home...so special, then, March 21st watching our first grandson, Blake,  marry.  Our second grandson, Mac, is my only blue-eyed grandchild...those blue eyes just like Carols, seldom seen unsmiling.  My love & prayers to my children, to Michael & all her immediate family that broken hearts heal, leaving room for all the special memories of happier times.  Carol will be missed.
