Aunts are mothers in disguise

August 16, 2013

My aunt Cathy was truly a beautiful person, everyone goes through hard times, and she had a few. I still loved her nonetheless. She has two sons, Austin and Taylor, two bright young men. She loved her neices and nephews to peices. When I had graduated High School I went and moved to Missouri for school. I had been dropped due to medical problems, and started doing drugs. It was just days after my first neice was born did I get a phone call, Aunt Cathy wanted me to move in with her. I am so glad I did. She saved me, whether she knew it or not. Then I moved out to Salina, and for about 8 months lived with my ex. When I moved back to Eureka, I think I saw her twice since 2008. It makes me hurt thinking I didn't take the time to see her. September of last year we got a bone chilling call, we needed to hurry to our other Aunts, of course my sister and I thought something was wrong with grandma. No, aunt Cathy had 2 heart attacks and grandma had to make a rough decision. My sister and I went up with our Grandma to support her with whatever decision she chose, we were told that she had no brain activity, and that she wouldn't live without the machines. Took a few hours to get her body temp up, but when they got it up we all went to her room, and said our final goodbyes. As I held her hand and talked to her, I asked for her fogiveness, and told her how much we loved her. When she passed I didn't think I would be able to take it, but I actually did good. My grandmother, bless her heart, lost her baby girl. My sister and I both loved our Aunt, and not just because she was our Aunt, but because she was our "Mother" in disguise. I love and miss you so very much Aunt Cathy, and I hope someday I will see you again. Give you the best bear hug ever, and annoy you greatly while singing to every song on the radio...even if I don't know the words.

Love Your Neice,
