Charles W. "Bill" Evans, 79 passed away June 8, 2011 following a sudden illness. Bill was born July 29, 1931 to Ernest and Hardean (Hunton) Evans in Carthage and was a lifelong resident. He married Wilma Christensen on June 24, 1951. She survives.

Bill worked for Park Cemetery for 28 years and follwed in his father's footsteps as cartaker of Oak Hill Cemetery for 41 years until his retirement at age 75. He was an avid boxing fan all his life, judging Golden Gloves, professional bouts and Olympic trials. He served on the Missouri State Boxing commnission for ten years. Bill and Wilma worked together managing their rental properties and were partners in Quality Memorials. He loved his family and they always came first in life.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Cheryle (Chris) Finley and Sue (Bill) Joslen, grandchildren Billy (Teresa) Joslen and Sarah (Chris) Horine, on great-grandson Atlas Horine, one brother Bob Evans and on sister Ruth Johnston. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Earnest, Don and Ron Evans and on sister Betty Plew.
