Charles Herman Brunnert was born August 29, 1926 in Argyle, MO to Phillip and Regina (Luebbert) Brunnert. He attended school in Argyle and served in the United States Navy from January 1945 until July 1946. On October 19, 1948, Charlie married Margaret Recker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. In 1946, following his military service, Charlie moved to West Point to help his cousin harvest grain. He then worked for Ed Stalp, before starting his own dairy farming operation. Charlie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and VFW. He enjoyed playing cards, was involved with his children in 4-H, and was designated the “ice cream man” for the West Point chapter of Dairy Women at the Cuming County Fair. Survivors include his sons Gerald (Sandy) Brunnert of West Point and Harvey Brunnert of Wisner; daughters Rita (Larry) Weems of Kansas City, KS and Mary (Joel) Schlautman of Lincoln; brothers Edwin Brunnert of Argyle, MO and Eugene (Elaine) Brunnert of Cheyenne, OK; sister Dolores Brunnert of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law Mary Brunnert of Watonga, OK and Katie Brunnert of Argyle, MO; grandchildren Regina Brunnert, Tim Brunnert, Lois (Devin) Bethune, Brandon (Malaina) Schlautman, and Nathan Schlautman; and great-granddaughter Sophie Schlautman. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Margaret on January 30, 1998; parents; brothers Joseph, William, Louis, and Benno; and sister Johanna Baumert.
