Mr. Charlie McGhee, Sr. was born on May 11, 1942 in Greenville, GA to the late Mrs. Ora and Collin McGhee.

Charlie attended school in Odessa, Georgia and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Metro Atlanta . Shortly after graduation, Charlie began working at The Coke Cola Bottle Company as a deliver driver for about seventeen years. He later moved on to work at Atlanta Dairy company as a “Receiver Specialist” where he stayed for many year until retirement.

Charlie accepted Christ in his life at an early age where he attended Branch
Hebon Baptist with his parents and siblings. Later he joined Mount
Caramel Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Timothy Fleming.
On June 24, 1962, he was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Julia Mae Lynch
Dukes. She stayed by his side during his last days until being called home
in September 7, 2013.

Charlie McGhee was a devoted husband, father, grand, great grandfather
and friend. His “Giant” status but “Gentle” spirit made everyone love him.
He always put his needs aside in order to help others.

Charlie was proceeded in death by siblings Doris McGhee, Neal McGhee and
Ola Parker.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Mrs. Julia Mae McGhee; his children, Mrs. Sheila McGhee-James, Mr. Charlie McGhee, Jr.; grand daughters, Ms. Erica Monique Dean & Destiny Juliette McGhee; great grandson, Kordell Zarmare Knight, sister-in-law, Mrs. Joyce McGhee, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
