My beloved Grandpa, I spoke to you last hoping to hear your voice another day but God needed to hear it next. Your glorious transition shocked the world that hoped to prepare themselves for the d day but as the Holy bible put it, I will come like a thief...... We thank God Almighty for making us part of you. We glorify Him for your exemplary life and we hope that you will always look after us from the Lord's bosom.

Rest in the peace and joy of the Lord.

A tribute to my beloved grandpa

Papa, you were a very bright light that radiated amongst me. You lived a very decent and godly life, touching as many lives as came your way. You bowed out gallantly, dignified and glorious. May the Lord's peace remain with you in great beyond where you have gone to receive your reward to God's glory.

Remain in the Lord's peace beloved Grandpa.

TRIBUTE TO MY WONDERFUL GRANDFATHER
   Dear Papa,
The departure of a saint is one that when it takes place in the Lord, it moves the mountains and shakes a nation.
I have tried to wake up from this nightmare, that does not disappear when I wake up…I cried, I went on hunger strike, I prayed!!!Just to make you come back to me, but alas!, silence and quietude greeted my helpless expectant ears.
Grandpa, how can I say a few words that do justice to all of the years of Love & Strength that you gave me? I hope that the real tribute to you will be the actions of my life, and, that I am a testament to the love and lessons that you instilled in me.
“CHEEZE”, Only God knows how much I crave to hear you call me that again. Papa, you are such a star figure in my life, A blessing to our entire family!!!
Oh, I am asking why is it that good things do not last? This is too soon. The little time you spent on earth was full of qualities, eventful, vibrant and promising activities, which positively touched many lives. Thus, a gap has been created.
Oh Death, I wish you were wise, you would have asked questions before striking my Grandpa. GRANDPA, you will remain a role model to me, for you made my life worthwhile, being God’s gift to me, and the entire family. You were a friend to even the poor, and also a priceless leader in a million.
Even though you are gone, you forever live in my memory. So, I guess I can breathe.
The song is ended, but the melody lingers on. Men like you help confirm our faith in God’s gift of life for us, here and after.
I know that the times we kept together and the memories we keep of you, would be enough to see us through, until, we meet again.
A great legacy will be celebrated and continued through your children and grandchildren. Your spirit is in my heart, and, always will be, for, life is not just the same without you.
I hope to live my life in a way that assures me of your wildest smile, because, I know you would loved to see me make you proud.
Your name, your presence and words will never be forgotten. We, therefore, say sleep warm, sleep tight, and, sleep well. May you continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord, until we meet to part no more. AMEN    ADIEU PAPA!
Your Beloved Grandson,

It was with sadness and shock that I received the news of the demise of your beloved daddy. My heart was indeed sorrowful, as I knew how passionate you were about him, and how closely knitted together, you were with him. And so I pondered in my heart how you were going to sail through this turbulence. But I knew that God is your refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
I know that your daddy was a loving father, a devoted husband, and a God-fearing and kind-hearted man who followed peace with all men. I can therefore understand the pain his demise has inflicted on your hearts. This is indeed a colossal loss.
I pray that the almighty God will give you succor in this difficult period, comfort your grieving hearts and give you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
May He heal your broken hearts and bind up your wounds, as He has promised in Psalms 147:3.
May He also help you to find solace in the provision He has made in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, for the resurrection of the saints at His second coming.
May God bless you, and keep you.
We love you all.

The Rose Beyond The Wall
The Rose Beyond The Wall - A. L. Frink
Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light,
Watered and fed by the morning dew,
Shedding it's sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength
With never a thought of fear or pride,
It followed the light through the crevice's length
And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before,
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing it's fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive--
The rose still grows beyond the wall,
Scattering fragrance far and wide
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forever-more.
A. L. Frink
To Ugochi and other siblings, i can only say you are the biggest legacies your father left behind. May the Almighty father grant you the strength to equally fulfill your own roles in this transient world. “The rose still grows beyond the wall”. I drew a lot of strength from this poem when my dad passed on some 22yrs ago, may it also comfort you, amen.

TRIBUTE TO MY WONDERFUL DADDY

Daddy, they say rainbows are a promise of new tomorrow. There have been lots of tomorrows that have come and gone; I only wish there could be ‘’Yesterdays’’ too. I would go back again and again to the yesterdays when you were still here.

Daddy, you are one very good person in my life. You gave me joy and taught me that the fear of God is the begining of wisdom.

The sad news of your death came to me as a great shock. I could not believe it but after sometime, it downed on me that the news was true. I acknowledge the battle and struggle through the valley of the shadow of death. Yet you had to let go because you understand and believed that when the good Lord calls….. all we His children can do is just to comply! I do believe that everything happens for a reason, Lord God giveth life and so shall he take back.

I wake up each morning to sunlight peeping through the blinds in my bedroom, only to realize it’s another morning and daddy is gone. Such a beautiful life….  Gone so soon from the earth. God, how I wish you did not allow this death to take my wonderful Dad away from us!

Daddy, our family have come face to face with the reality that life is very precious, and life is a gift of time on earth which we should accept and celebrate each day. I remember the best fatherly care, teaching and love I received from you. I equally acknowledge and appreciate your continues dedication, struggle and efforts towards the church, my education and upkeep. How you and Mama visited me at Imperial College London while I was doing my Masters Degree. Gone but not forgotten, you are the best Dad and I will always love you. I will miss you; the entire Okwara’s family will miss you…  Omere Oha … OKWOJIAKU and all your friends will miss you. Great Historian, ChinyelU
go ndi Orlu, the vacuum your exit has created will be very difficult to fill. Adieu! Adieu! Adieu my loving Father.

Daddy, I am consoled by the assurance that you are resting in the bosom of the Lord with no pains on that heart of yours. Now that you can comfortably work without stress in Heaven, I promise that I will never disappoint you. I will always support and deliver all you believed in, yours is a daughter that will keep your memory alive forever as long as I live. Please watch over us your children, give Mama your precious wife the strength and heart to take the loss. She would have preferred to spend the rest of her life together with her beloved darling husband, but God knows the best. May your gentle soul through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace. Amen!

Adieu my Hero,  Adieu Great Historian, Adieu Compassionate Daddy , Adieu man of great talents and Wisdom, Adieu till we meet again on the last day to part no more.

God Be With You Till We Meet Again;

Six Months and forever counting

August 10, 2014

My sweet Daddy, it was exactly six months today that you most humbly bowed out of this trouble-filled and wicked world leaving a vacuum too large to fill. Although life may never be the same in a world without you, I take solace in the divine trust that you are relaxing in the peace and sufficiency of the God that we serve. Your lovely memories will forever remain fresh in our healing hearts and your peace will always be a prayer point in our daily submissions to the Lord God Almighty.

April 17, 2014

Sir GC was a very articulate man, sincere and humble to the core. A great unifyer. He was endowed with great wisdom, the kind of wisdom that only worked for peace and progress of his fellow man.

He was as great a teacher as he was in history. I can forever recount his usual story of a Biafran wartime bird called Ndu. According to him, this unique specie of birds were seen more often during the Nigerian civil war (the Biafran war). The birds moved in their hundreds and as such were easy targets for the hunters. Because of the great love the birds had for each other, they made it nearly impossible for the hunters to achieve their aim as the surviving birds will all cluster together once the shot is fired to carry their brothers caught by the hunters fire to the tree top without allowing them drop to the hunter's reach.

This is a great story of many lessons for unity, love and brotherhood.

May your great soul rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ and may your beloved mother the Blessed Virgin mary intercede for you forever. Amen.
