Her Life

Mrs. Christene L. Wilson, the child of the late Geneive Newton and the late Riley McLemore, was born July 29, 1937 in Troup County, GA. She departed this life on January 1, 2015 at the West GA Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.

At an early age, Christene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She was a faithful member until failing health.

Christene received her education in the West Point Public Schools.

Early in life, she married Willie Frank Wilson, Sr. and to this union six children were born.

Christene was employed in the domestic industry until declining health.

Her hobbies included reading, and spending time at the Senior Citizen Center.

Mrs. Christene was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Willie Frank Wilson, Sr., two sisters, Lula Pearl Bailey, Sally Bell Harris, one brother, Robert L. Newton and her mother-in-law, Lilla Pearl Bailey.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Lavone(Willie) Wilson, Dorothy (Torrie) Trice, West Point, GA; Sandra (E. Timothy) Carreker, Elkton, KY; three sons, Willie Frank(Diane) Wilson, Jr., Jimmy (Rhonda) Wilson, William Clifford (Patricia) Wilson, West Point, GA; a special grandson that she reared as her own, Demetrius Wilson, West Point, GA; one sister, Annie V. Slaughter, West Point, GA; three brothers Homer(Linda) Newton, Pal Newton, West Point, GA and Carey (Emma) Newton, Atlanta, GA; one aunt, Minnie Moss, LaGrange, GA, 19 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends; a very special friend, W.C. Burton, other special friends, Ruby Dean Reed, Margaret Thompson and Lisa Traylor
