He was the oldest son of the late Tommie Sean Copeland Mahone.  He continued his education and got his GED.

He was a father of five children, Tonikka Alford, Nicole Alford, Cleveland Alford, Jr., Kathy, Calvin Clements; four sisters, Linda (Roderic) Prather of Harris City, Sara and Marsha Mahone of Manchester, Sherry (Lonnie) Carson of Jacksonville, NC; one aunt, Jeanell Copeland of Warm Springs; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that will sadly miss him.
