Perhaps Today

December 24, 2011

I remember when I was about 6 or 7, dad would walk down the hall with his back to me. That was my cue to run and jump up on his back.  He would always catch me. What a great example of our heavenly father!

I always enjoyed ministering with my dad in song.  He had the most beautiful and clear tenor voice! He also was a wonderful, pentecostal preacher!  I remember how he would kick his leg out to the side when he got excited when the Holy Spirit moved on him.

Often he would ask us kids if we were keeping up with our Bible reading and daily devotion time with the Lord. I appreciate those gentle reminders.

We had a small plaque on the top of our TV that said "Perhaps Today".  It was a constant reminder that perhaps today the Lord may come. Perhaps today we will see dad again, if the Lord should come.

What a trooper!

The kiddos always loved being around 'great grampa'. Nick enjoyed the wrestling and playing around with you. You didn't back down. I think you may have enjoyed it just as much as he did! :) You always had a way of making everyone feel loved and special... even during wrestling matches <3

Off we go!!!

December 20, 2011

One of the fondest memories I will never forget, was at the time when Pat, (Cliff's wife) was suffering from Cancer and we all were visiting her at the hospital a few weeks before she passed away.  We had been there together encouraging her and ministering to her and visiting with one another.  The situation was not easy and her prognosis was not good.  So we were all feeling somewhat somber and sad.  As it grew late in the day, and visiting time came to a close, it was agreed that we would all go back to Dad's house to stay and get some dinner.

We were all trying to pile into the one car that we were in (maybe six of us) which took a few minutes to squeeze everybody in, Dad was behind the wheel and waiting to get going...and we all were still feeling a little somber, as the final door closed on the little toyota, we heard Cliff (Dad) say in the perfect tone - - "Off we go like a herd of turtles!"

We all burst out laughing, and laughing!  What a perfect moment... it was all Cliff!!!
