cliff was the second son of robert and tula clutterbuck, his older brother was named granville, after cliff came brian, dawn, grayham, martin. debra, jeffrey, denis and mary, despite the fact of there being so many cliff's childhood was a happy one, tragedy struck when cliff was 8yrs old, his brother granville was killed in a hit and run accident which cliff witnessed and never really got over.  he lived with his nanna barrel until the age of 14 when he decided to go back and live at home with his parents, he went to trevethin school and left aged 15. he went to work down the pit until old enough to join the army, his beloved R.W.F where he met friends that stayed friends right up till the day he passed away. cliff stayed in the army for 7yrs until his first wife tina decided she wan't a more stable home life so it was against his better judgement that he came out, sadly the marriage broke down shortly after and even though cliff did try to get back in the army he was unsuccesful, he joined the t.a which he loved
