Her Life
November 21, 2012

Cora was born to Irving and Florence Dutton of Crandon, Wisconsin in 1944. She was the eldest girl of their 11 children. She left her home in Wisconsin at the age of 18 and moved to Seattle, Washington where she met and married William Earl Fisher (Bill). Not only did she gain a husband but became a valued member of her husbands family. She now had mother in law Mary, father in law Wilbur, sisters Kandy, Nancy, Maryann, and Cris; brothers Jimmy and Dan. While only married to Bill for nine years she stayed close to her new family for the rest of her life. During that marriage she had three daughters Angela, Billie-jo, and Maryellen. Moving on with her life in 1974 she married Jack Gentry and had another child; a son Jack Gentry Jr. She lived with Jack in Burien, Washington and raised her children. Her career was being the best mother she could be. She worked on an associates degree in accounting but never pursued a career in that field. She did side work as a CNA and property rental. By the time her girls were all grown and starting to give her grandchildren and her son was nearly graduated from high school she moved on to a new chapter in her life. Her marriage to Jack Gentry Sr. was at an end. She moved around a bit before finally buying a home in Lakebay Washington where she opened a daycare center and became a valued member of the Longbranch community. She touched a lot of lives being there for the working families in the community providing safe and affordable childcare. Everyone she knew in the community thought of her as "Grandma Cora". Her time living in Lakebay were some of her happiest times with her adult children. She would talk later on in her life about how happy she was when all of her children and grandchildren were close and could all be together bringing laughter to her home. A photo was taken during that time in her life of herself surrounded by her children and grandchildren. You can see the sparkle in Cora's eye and happiness in her smile. No matter where she was staying she kept that photo framed and displayed on her wall for the rest of her life. She loved all of her children very much. After her retirement she again moved around some. Living with each of her children for a bit. Lived with her sister Cris for a while where she reconnected with her family that she loved so much all those years before. She rekindled her relationship with her first husband Bill until he passed away in 2007. After her loss and having been battling cancer she decided to move and live with her daughter Mary and son in law David in Olympia, Washington. She had five happy years after that with a close relationship with her brother Dan and his wife Gella. She enjoyed going to family functions like birthday parties and other celebrations. She really enjoyed her last visit with sister Kandy. Was thrilled that she came all the way to Olympia to visit her. She felt loved by all of you and even during her final battle with breast cancer she had good spirits and loved her life. She had been making plans for the future and was super excited about her first great grandchild who was born November 23rd, 2012. She passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of November 18th.  She died the way she lived. With faith, dignity, love and concern for others.
