His Life

Our Precious Son

January 27, 2015

The day Cory was born was one of the happiest days of Mike and my life. It was such a special day because he was a perfect baby boy.  Corys father and I both had lost a baby to stillbirth so we both worried and cried most of the pregnancy.  We were scared to death it would happen again.  Cory was perfectly healthy and full of life and of course he was a daddys boy.

At the age of 2 years he would sneak away from his older sister, Jennifer, and he would ride 2 blocks down the street to see his grandma, grandpa and his uncle Kelly who was just a couple of years older than Cory.  He was very independent from the time he was a year old.

When Cory was 4 years old his daddy bought him a 3-wheeler.  They would go to the chat piles or the river bottom mudding, Mike on his 3-wheeler and Cory right beside him on his.  He thought he was just as capable as the big guys.  He rode that 3-wheeler hard and if he rolled end over end down the chat piles he would jump right back on and away he would go.  Our 2nd son Jeremy was born when Cory was 4 years old and he was on top of the world.  He couldn't wait for Jeremy to get big enough to play.  Cory and his older sister were so very close and he was her best friend in the world.  She protected him and was his little mother.  Cory treated Jeremy the same way Jennifer treated Cory.  He protected his little brother and didn't want anyone touching that tiny baby.  When Justin would come over, Corys half brother, they could really got down and dirty.  Cory loved Justin because he was his big brother and he knew everything, as far as Cory was concerned.

From the time Cory was a year old his best buddy in the whole world was his cousin, Nick Maxson.   Them two boys would do anything they were big enough to do and a lot of things they weren't big enough to do!  Cory loved Nick like a brother and they were impossible to separate.  Keith is Corys cousin and when Cory was about 7 years old, he and Keith would go fishing every chance they got.  Cory loved Keith so very much.  Cory would go to his dad and tell him he wanted Keith to spend the night and it didn't matter that we had just taken him home after being with us for a week, but daddy would go get Keith no matter how late it was.

Cory was full of life his whole childhood and he definitely kept us on our toes.  It was a good thing he was so special because God trusted us with a very hyper boy and there was times I didn't think I would make it thru.  Of course Corys dad was just as hyper and he didn't mind continually chasing him.  All though he was a hand full, I would absolutely do it all over again!

By the time Cory was grown he was 6' 4" tall and weighed about 200lbs.  He would do anything for anyone.  He had a good heart and he loved his family very much.  Cory was killed in a MVA on June 3, 2009.  It has been 5 years and it still feels like yesterday.   God allowed us to enjoy this precious boy for 28 years and I wouldn't trade those 28 years for anything.

Cory we love you baby boy and I will see you soon!

Love,

Mom
