Cowan Asquith Thompson, affectionately known as "Bonnie", was born on December 10, 1940, to Reginald and Kathleen Thompson in Clarendon, Jamaica. Cowan was educated in Jamaica school systems and received a higher school certificate from Oxford University. He was the son of educators-- his father was a high school principal and his mother was a high school teacher. Cowan went on to become an accountant and this profession took him to various employments in Jamaica such as the Jamaica Ministry of Labor, St Mary Parish Counsel, Jamaica Milk Products, and CMP Industries.
Cowan married Doreen Scott in 1969 and from this union, produced two loving daughters, Gillian Reader and Joy Thompson.. Cowan and his family lived in Kingston, Jamaica for several years before migrating to the United States in 1984 where they made California their home. Cowan then continued his accounting career with various employees and retired after 40 years in the profession
Cowan was very active. He was a lover of music, enjoyed sports and his favorite hobbies were playing the piano and writing songs . He also enjoyed cooking, gardening and home improvement. His latest past time was spending time with his 2 year od grandson, who was the apple of his eye.
Cowan left to cherish his memories his loving wife, Doreen Thompson, his duaghters Pethrine Thompson (from a previous relationship), Gillian Reader, and Joy Thompson, granddaughter Christina (daughter of Pethrine), grandson Christopher Reader, son-in-law Dontae Reader, brother Roosevelt Thompson, pet Lil Debbie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cowan was preceded by his parents, Reginand and Kathleen Thompson, brother Hayden Thompson, and his three sisters Eloise Bachelor, Joy Thompson, and Fay Hyman.
