Cyril J. (Cy) Grosserhode- RM2C-SV6

Parents: Henry & Anna (Peitzmeier) Grosserhode

Cy received his catholic education at Sacred Heart Academy, Olean and Dodge Public High School.

October 1943, he entered the U.S. Navy, training at Farragut, ID, Shoemaker, CA, and San Pedro, CA, as a Mobile Communications Operator. He served in the Asiatic Pacific with the Seventh Fleet abroad many troop and carrier ships, being aboard the first ship to enter Tokyo Bay and the USS Missouri for the peace treaty signing between the U.S. and Japan in 1946

He received the Asiatic Pacific Area Service with two bronze stars. The Philippine Liberation Ribbon, one bronze star while attached to Commander Seventh Fleet with the Mobile Unit. He also took part in the invasion of Zambanga in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in May 1946.

Cy is a member of the American Legion Post 155, Last Man's Club WWII, Howells, NE holding several offices, and a Lifetime member of the VFW 8597, Dodge, NE, serving as a commander 1968-1969.

June 8th, he married Alda Rhode, Parents: Joe & Theresa (Knust) Rhode, at Sacred Heart Church, Olean, both lifetime members of the parish.

Their family: Three Daughters: Lynn (Randall) Kurtz, Karen (Joe) Danko, Lori (Ronald) Ray.

Three Sons: Wayne, Gary, Roy

Grandchildren: Jamie Danko, Melissa (Abe) Schumacher, Ashley Grosserhode, Kelsey Grosserhode, Marisa Kurtz

Great Grandchildren: Knox & May Schumacher, Stefen Ray
