History and Accomplishments:

 

Don was born in Albuquerque, NM and came to Arizona as a young boy.  He was raised on a cattle ranch in Buckeye, AZ.  Don graduated from Buckeye High School in 1958.  He continued his education at ASU, having earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology.  Don proudly served in the U.S. Army as an enlisted lab tech and as an Infantry Officer upon completing Officer Candidate School.  Don retired from Phoenix Union High School District in 2000, consulting as a school psychologist for many years.  His passions were aviation, auto racing, and family.  He logged 2500+ hours as a commuter airline/agricultural pilot and flight instructor.  Dr. Rooks will be remembered for his keen wit, pervasive wisdom, and unconditional loving nature.

 Survivors:

 Don died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones.  He is survived by his life-long love Rennie Rooks; daughters Lora Rooks and Jenn Rooks-Maki; son Don Rooks, and sister Gerre Arnold (Clemie).

 

Services:

 A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 14th at 10:30 a.m.; Heiden Land and Cattle (H Four Farms) 26200 W. Broadway Road in Buckeye, AZ--1/4 mile west of Rooks Road on Broadway Road.

 Arrangements:

 Ganley Funeral Home made the arrangements.
