His Life

His passing

November 9, 2015

Dale discovered that he had leukemia in July 2014, most likely due to radiation from a previous cancer.  He fought a brave, 15 month fight.  He passed away with his wife Donna and daughter, Daralee at his side.

He will be GREATLY missed.

If you are interested, you can make a donation to the Leukemia- Lymphoma Society in his name at www.lls.org.

What did Dale enjoy?

November 9, 2015

Dale had many interests.  He loved nature from childhood, spending much of his youth hunting with his grandfather.  He loved sailing, and enjoyed working in the yard.  He always made sure that his yard was beautiful.
He had a love for history, and kept many books on it.  He was happy to engage in conversation on history with whomever would listen.
He had a love for woodworking.  He loved his workbench and spent a lot of time creating things - a doll house to a dog house to a beautiful TV stand in their home; whatever was needed.
He had an eclectic love of music.  His favorite band was Pink Floyd, though he liked a little of everything - from Wagner to U2.
He had a fun sense of humor and enjoyed teasing.  He always had a twinkle in his eye.
He loved food - his wife's Italian dinners, a good Tex-Mex taco al carbon, and maybe most important --- a great appreciation for ShinerBock Beer!

Family Life

November 9, 2015

Dale and Donna started their family in Connecticut, but soon followed Donna's family to Florida.  It was there that he worked on NASA's Space Shuttle Program in Cape Canaveral, before (and during) the time the first shuttle was to go up.
They had two children, Daralee and Brett.  Dale was a great dad, and he had a knack for sparking their curiosity, be it in the animals that lived nearby, or the volume of water a cup could hold, he had a patient way of explaining things.
He took the family sailing, and helped them develop an appreciation for nature.
He was there to make things for the kids, help coach baseball, or teach them to shoot a gun.  They went camping and spent many hours at the beach.
The family moved, again following Donna's family - this time to Houston, Texas. Dale spent a total of 30 years as a Piping Desginer for engineering firms in Houston.

Early Life

November 9, 2015

Dale was born near Aurora, Colorado. He was raised mostly in Ossining, New York by his mom and grandparents.  He spent many hours playing in the woods of the Catskill Mountains, learning to hunt with his grandfather.  They moved to Stamford, Connecticut when his mom married his step-father.  He graduated from Stamford High School.  He attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute in Connecticut.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the time of the Vietnam War.
He met his wife, Donna, when they were in junior high.  They met again when they worked together in high school.  They met yet again at a diner when he had completed his time with the Navy.  He asked her if she was married that day.  She left with a friend, telling her, "I'm going to marry that man." And so she did.
